Unfortunately, Riley didn't work out when placed with his new owner (it happens to the best of us no matter how thorough our research is regarding potential new owners, so it was mutually agreed between his breeder, Rachel Jonas of Mosaic Manchester Terriers, and new owner, that he would go home to Rachel. Riley had been placed fairly close to where I live, so I offered to pick him up for Rachel. Soon after his arrival here at WhirlWynd in March of 2023, since I'd decided not to show Quinn any longer and wanting to get back into the show ring, I offered to 'let him hang out' here with me if Rachel was agreeable to the idea - so - Riley is on an 'extended visit' here at WhirlWynd and will be trained and shown in the breed ring and hopefully attain his Championship and maybe a few 'back end' titles. I also think he would do great at FastCat and scent work! Thank your, Rachel, for letting this boy stay here with me where he's wormed his way into my heart and onto my lap! * One win I am very proud of - his being awarded Reserve Winners to a 5 point major from the 6 to under 9 month puppy class during our 2023 National week of events at the District 4 AMTC Specialty August 31st under Mrs. Stephanie Hedgepath in Lexington, KY! This was only his 3rd time being in the show ring and the standard manchester terrier entries were outstanding representatives of the breed! Riley began his show career in July 2023 entered in the 6 to under 9 month puppy class and we'll end 2023 showing in the 9 to under 12 month puppy class in October. When we come out in 2024, Riley will be shown in the Open Dog class. I am very pleased with what Riley has already accomplished since he started being shown in the breed ring having been awarded BOS and Winners Dog (for 8 single points, so far). Not too bad for a youngster for no longer than he's been shown. Major points toward an AKC championship in this area of the country are difficult to come by and unfortunately there are not many standard manchesters around here so a bit of traveling is necessary to find majors, however, I am hoping to enter Riley in shows that may have that ever elusive major available in the not too distant future. | |||

Riley was just 3 months old when he came here and he just turned 1 year 'young' on December 23rd of 2023 He's still a bit of a handful but a fun handful! He is definitely a typical terrier - busy (what manchester pup isn't) with very high prey drive, he's extremely smart, a quick learner and a joy to work with. His temperament is absolutely fantastic and although he may be a wee bit leery when he first meets someone new - which can be typical of this breed - within seconds he loves them and wants on their laps - the entire time they're here! He settled right in to my home as soon as he walked in the door and gets along wonderfully with my other three black and tans: Felix (Mosaic), Jaz (Burmack) and Quinn (Jazzman). With Limited Showing, Riley Receives His Puppy of Achievement Certificate at 9 1/2 Months of Age! Riley Grabs His 1st Point!
